A large blue/green glazed mummiform figure holding a how and an adze, with the front depicting a double row of hieroglyphs for “Ankhep” and a seed bag over left shoulder.

Small chips to glaze to body otherwise a superb example with fine detail, clear hieroglyphs and good colour.

The seller of this lot hereby guarantees that this object was obtained legally. Purchased by the current owner in the UK from Ex J. Marriott Collection.

John Marriott (1921-2007) was the only son of Major-General Sir John Charles Oakes Marriott who was a British Officer during WWI and WWII. John Marriott was not only a painter but also a keen art collector who focused mainly on Asian art.
