The Maximilian hunting parties known as ‘Belles chasses de Guise’ - The month of March, Aries sign. Reproduction of an artwork from the first part of the 16th century, at the beginning of Brussels’ Renaissance.

Beautiful tapestry / wall hanging representing a hunting scene after Barend Van Orley, woven on Jacquard Loom at the workshops of La Filandière (Paris).

Hanging from a series representing the twelve months of the year associated with hunting scenes in the Court of Brabant, this tapestry represents a falcon hunting episode.
Richly adorned with garland of flowers and fruits and animated with many little animals, typical of Brussels, filling the upper and side borders. The lower border is made as a trompe l'oeil like an ancient bas-relief with deities and sea monsters.

In good overall condition, very slight wear and tear due to aging and use. Certificate of authenticity included in the back.

Size: 205 x 132 cm.
