Oil on canvas depicting the portrait of a woman, signed C. Brancaccio Paris '902 on bottom right.
Painting preserved in good overall condition, except for slight craquelure on the face, as shown in photos.
First canvas and coeval stretcher.
This is one of portraitist Carlo Brancaccio’s rare representations.
In this work the Neapolitan artist highlights his great ability even in a face in the foreground.
Dated Paris ‘902, it shows the painter’s avant-garde language of full Liberty period.
We can see the trace of the drawing, intentionally left to outline its contours.
Also the use of very pale colours and a highly diluted painting preparation, almost like a watercolour technique, which the artist also used in his oil landscapes.
Painting analysed with solvents and examined under Wood's lamp.
No restorations and alterations of the pigment emerged, the signature is coeval.
After these tests we can confirm the authenticity of the work, together with a certificate of authenticity from our gallery with photos, as required by the law.
