“This book, the best by Doisneau, reflects his humanity well. He seized the Parisian suburbs of the post-war period just before the 1960s when architects and urban planners transformed these popular neighbourhoods, full of charm, into desolate urban landscapes. " Gerry BADGER.
Doisneau photographs are classified by theme or chapters; kids, love, decorations, Sundays and holidays, hobbies... They draw a portrait of the suburbs with sensitivity and talent and follow a text that is at the same time polemic, social and emphatic by Cendrars.
