The "journal des Sçavans" is the oldest literary and scientific periodical in Europe. Founded under the patronage of Colbert by Denis de Sallo and successively directed by Abbé Gallois (1666 -1674), Abbé Jean-Paul de La Roque (1674-1687) assisted by Abbé Cureau de la Chambre and Louis Cousin (1687-1701). Published irregularly until 1723, it became a monthly publication until 1792, when it was discontinued.

The 'journal des scavans' was the first scientific journal published in Europe.

It was crucial to the development of the scientific revolution.

A nice copy of this rare book.
