Heriz serapi - Tapijt - 320 cm - 240 cm

Heriz serapi - Tapijt - 320 cm - 240 cm
Wol op katoen - Iran - Eerste helft 20e eeuw

Antique Heriz Serapi carpet.
This durable product is made of quality wool and is ideal for the home. Heriz is a city located in the north eastern region of Iran, near the city of Tabriz, and it is precisely the proximity to this important centre of the production of carpets which has influenced, especially in the early 19th century, the local experts, giving rise to this characteristic type of carpet. Generally these carpets have great consistency and are weighty with fairly large knots, and are definitely amongst the most robust Persian rugs. The patterns derive from the classic medallion designs of the nearby city of Tabriz, but very stylised and reinterpreted in a style and chromatic taste which is completely different to that of Tabriz carpets. Heriz medallions have stylised star shapes that can extend until they almost touch the edge of the carpets. The carpet is considered one of the best slightly simpler carpets in all of Persia.
