Muonionalusta meteoriet. Voltooi het stuk - 3820 g

Muonionalusta meteoriet. Voltooi het stuk - 3820 g
1906, rivier de Muonio, Zweden

Iron meteorites come from the core of dead asteroids. In them the heavy elements sunk to the center due to gravity. The asteroids were then destroyed by impacts with other bodies, releasing the iron core to space. Iron meteorites are alloys of iron and nickel mainly although they contain other trace elements.

In this lot an excellent and big Muonionalusta is offered. It was first found in 1906 in the northern part of Sweden, close to Finland. It is classified as a IVA iron meteorite and the Widmanstatten pattern can be seen if the meteorite is treated with acid (etch).

This particular piece has been cleaned thoroughly, revealing the Widmanstatten pattern even in the surface. It also has a big graphite inclusion, as can be seen in a round shape in the close-up picture.

Weight: 3820 grams.

Certificate of authenticity included. IMCA 5591.

Packages are usually sent the morning after the auction. Shipping is combined in all my listings - if you win multiple items, only one shipping cost is paid.
