B.M. Trevisan was born in Gorizia on 26 March 1901. He made his debut in 1921 at the Luigi Rosolen art gallery in Gorizia. He joined the Futurist movement. In 1932 he decorated the theatre hall of Casa del Dopolavoro in Quisca (Kojsko, Slovenia) with T. Crali. In the 1930s, when he developed a synthetic and essential expressive language, T. participated in the exhibitions organised in Gorizia and Trieste by the Fascist Trade Union of Fine Arts. In 1936 he fought in Africa and precisely in the Ethiopian war, to which this picture refers. In 1946 he displayed his works at the exhibition of Friulian painters curated by Antonio Marangoni. In 1976 a retrospective exhibition was set up for him in Gradisca d’Isonzo. He died in Gorizia on 11 July 1984.
