Girardier, Charles - Swiss watch maker
Charles Giradier signed his watches with Girardier L'aine (the elder). He was born in 1757 and lived in Geneva. From 1810 he was active in Paris. He was a master watch maker. Charles Giradier passed away in 1839.
Unusual and rare verge watch 18 kt gold casing (18 K hallmark) with 54 mm diameter without pendant - 67 mm with it. Weight 105 g
Original gold casing in beautiful condition. Back is smooth.
Fine, very interesting, unusual dial. Three enamel dials. Time dial with Arabic numerals and dotted minute scale. Fine gold-coloured hands. Upper small dial for day date 1 to 31 and numeral dial for day names - gold-coloured steel hands. A compass is inlaid at the top. The entire dial is made of enamel and masterfully painted. Movement in working order. A collector's piece and as such it was not tested for precision or power reserve.
This timepiece was manufactured around 1810. Very good overall condition.
