Schmitz (1896–1977) was a leading member of the 'Cologne Progressives', a group of artists who in the 1920’s and 30's participated in the radical currents around the German communist organisations and are credited with the creation of the Figurative Constructivism movement.
A rare, limited edition of the collection of post-war and contemporary art, “La Lune en Rodage” was published in three volumes in 1960, 1965 and 1977 containing 180 art works that provide an account of the artistic avant-garde art scene between the 1950’s and 1970’s.
Condition: Excellent, commensurate with its age; never been framed.
