Photographic documentation in a leporello resuming a 5-minute performance at the junction of 57th Street and Madison Avenue in New York, March 11, 1972.
Two pages of explanatory text and 26 full-page photographs.
Bill Beirne's Street performance was performed by three actors on March 11, 1972 between 4:45 p.m. and 4:50 p.m.; the three performers, first drowned in the flow of pedestrians, gradually stand out by staying in the same position for several minutes.
By focusing on an aesthetic activity in a routine context, the artist highlights the highly structured aspect of human behaviour in urban areas.
