The Belonostomus (gen. Belonostomus) is an extinct bonefish, belonging to the Aspidorhynchiformes. It lived between the Late Jurassic and the late Cretaceous (circa 155-65 million years ago), and its fossil remains have been found in North America and Asia. It was certainly a rather agile and fast predator, given the presence of sharp teeth, a long rostrum and an elongated and thin body.
