Bought in Marques de Murrieta winery in Logroño, Rioja, in 2001.
Stored in private cellar up to today.
Etiqueta Blanca was one of the historical brands produced by Murrieta winery all along the 19th century and half of the 20th. Originally, the wine was labelled "Carta Blanca" (Carte Blanche) and then changed to "Etiqueta Blanca" (White Label). The last vintage vinified was 1982 and then it was replaced by the current Murrieta Reserva: reducing the ageing period and increasing the production.
Currently, it would be labelled as Gran Reserva by the Regulatory Council of Rioja.
95/100 Cellartracker: "Extraordinary nose of plum, sweet cherries, leather, earth. Phenomenal palate with herbs, plum, mushrooms with med body super long and great acidity still. The wine is fully evolved but far from dying, drink now although it will probably last 10-20 more years. One to remember".
Vinified in big wooden vats for 6 months, from the founding time of the winery, with no temperature control. Poured to oak barrels and then aged for 55 months.
** Shipment made with special wine boxes certified by UPS and DHL.
