Red half sheepskin binding with a flap spine adorned with gilding and titling. A fairly well-preserved set: rubbing marks from use to the headcaps, tailcaps and spines. Sturdy hinges. Fresh interior with some light foxing.
The book is one of the great classics of History, as is L'Histoire de l'Amérique by the same author, it was a model for the times to come, and especially the two introductory volumes that are a description of the evolution of Europe from the fall of the Roman Empire to Charles V.
