A lovely illustrated edition, complete, of the plays by Georges Courteline in two volumes (410 + 300 pages). Containing numerous illustrations by Joseph Hémard, in half morocco binding with strips, with ribbed spine and gilded upper edge.
A well preserved set: spines insolated along the length with some friction from use on the crowns. Sound hinges. Fresh inside, without foxing.
Georges Moinaux or Moineau, aka Georges Courteline, was a French novelist and playwright, born on 25 June 1858 in Tours, died on 25 June 1929 in Paris.
Joseph Hémard was a French cartoonist and illustrator born 2 August 1880 in Mureaux (Yvelines) and died in 14th arrondissement of Paris on 9 August 1961.
