The Vuvi or Pove are a Bantu people from central Africa, settled in the equatorial forest in central Gabon, between the Lolo River and the Offoué River. They belong to the Okande-Tsogho group.
This feminine fecundity fetish is featured by a head, inverted in relation to the body.
Magical load is placed in the rectangular cavity in the middle of the back, the arms and the hands are folded on the belly.
It is decorated with a necklace around the neck of thin blue beads and a grigri. The legs end into a sort of pestle.
It is covered with white pigment - kaolin - and black pigment.
Wonderful dry, crusty patina.
