Large Masculine Baule Figurine (71 cm + 10 cm for the stand). The head was broken and repaired following traditional techniques. Furthermore, the right hand and leg are cracked, but remain in place because the latter are held by the stand.
The man is sitting on a stool, with an animal representation. He is holding a cup in his left hand. There are many scarifications, especially on the back. The weight, including the stand is of 6.3 kilograms.
The face is traditionally Baule. It has the basis of a beard (a part is broken) on which hairs or some raffia were very likely tied, to represent a long beard.
The patina, the repairs and the wear seem to indicate that this figurine dates back to the first half of the 20th century.
