Paisley Jamawar shawls were a fashionable item for affluent Women to display their status in society during the 19th century. Each made of intricately woven delicate wool and Pashmina. Although known as the Paisley pattern the teardrop motif originated from Persia and India, becoming popular in Europe and Britain.

This Paisley shawl displays intense paisley pattern within a 2 inch border. Floral paisley designed field predominately in Burgendy and red wine tones. Black ground. Also displays elongated floral boteh with a narrow border followed by fringe element design on both sides.

The shawl has an Ruby jewel like colour palette that remains vivid despite age and usage.

Last photo displays the back of the shawl showing the intricate weaving structure which is hand woven on Kani Spools.
Can be used as a wall hanging/sofa throw/Bedcover/
Can also be worn as a traditional wrap shawl.
