Paisley shawls were a fashionable item of women's clothing in the 19th century made of intricately woven and delicate wool. Although known as the Paisley pattern the teardrop motif originated from Persia and Kashmir becoming popular in Europe and England.
Reversible feature as the design is double sided creating a look of two different shawls.

This Paisley shawl displays extensive boteh foilage in each border. Arabesque designed field predominately in cobalt blue and burgundy tones. Beige ground. Also displays elongated floral boteh with a narrow border followed by fringe elements on both sides.
