Sida Sida Rare Miniature Camera 4 x 4 made of moulded metal, 1936
Lens: Achromatic Sida Optik f/8 - 35mm
The paternity of this camera is usually attributed to Fritz Kaftanski, generally best known for his Fex cameras. But to be exact, it belongs to Mr Karl Gumpel and Mr Fritz Kaftanski, as evidenced by the patents filed for this camera.
The Sida was made during the 1930s in Berlin. There were several variants that differed in terms of material, technical functioning, etc.
This version is from 1936 and is made of moulded metal.
The film is specific and allows to obtain negatives of 24 x 24 mm. The lens is a f:8/35 mm.
Years later, after the war, a French version was created; it will be called Sidax and was made of Bakelite. Around the world (Great Britain, Italy, etc), equivalent models were manufactured under license.
See photos to see the camera’s quality.
Good luck in the auction.
