History of the Sikhote Alin meteorite:
On February 12th, 1947, around 10:30, witnesses from the mountain range of Sikhote-Aline in the USSR observed a body brighter than the Sun from the North descending. As the meteor, traveling at a speed of about 14 km/s (8.7 mi/s), entered the atmosphere, it began to break apart. At a height of 5.6 km, the largest mass appeared to violently explode. The bright flash and deafening shock of the fall were observed within a radius of 300 km around the point of impact.
A trail of smoke 32 km long remained in the sky for several hours.
This metal meteorite contains different metals: 93% iron, 5.9% Nickel, 0.42% Cobalt...
