American Marlin XXX standard 1872 revolver.
Only 5000 copies of this model were produced.
Model very similar to the Smith and Wesson Model 1, but much rarer and in its original configuration (no DIY, no polishing, no tanning... revolver in very good, well-preserved condition).
Mexican t and blued steel hammer.
Nickel-plated barrel, cylinder and body.
Remaining nickel plating 80% intact on the body (brass slightly visible at the edges), 60% on the barrel, and about 30% remaining on the cylinder.
Good mechanics, no excessive play on the sides or air gaps, good indexing, clear percussion.
3 inch barrel in good condition, rifling marks still clearly visible.
Crow’s beak butt in rosewood with much of the original varnish.
5 shot cylinder - 30 calibre RF
Serial number: 3762
Engraving on the back of the barrel:
‘J. M. MARLIN, NEW HAVEN, CT, U. S. A., PA. JULY, 1, 1873’
and ‘XXX STANDARD 1872’ on top.
