Designed by Aurelius M. Renzetti and D. Carlton Brown and patented on February 2, 1926, the Egyptian sun god Ra model was originally offered to Stutz owners, mounted on a Bakelite radiator lid in 1926 and on a brass lid from 1927.

Born in Ohio in 1876, Engineer Harry C. Stutz has been involved in the construction of prototypes of motorized carriages since 1898. Over the years, he had become more and more involved in this theme. In 1910 he founded the Stutz Auto Parts Company for parts production and in 1911 the Ideal Motor Company for vehicle production. Both companies were based in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1911, the automobile production began. The brand name was Stutz.
