The firm of Adriano Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 by Adriano Ramos Pinto and his brother António but they did not start doing vintage port until 1917. Quinta de Bom Retiro was bought 1919 and 1933 Quinta de Urtiga was incorporated in Bom Retiro. Quinta de Ervamoira was named Quinta de Santa Maria but this name was already used by Cockburn and thus it was not possible to sell it under that name. Suzanne Chantel, a French historical novelist, published a novel called Ervamoira – the name of a small white flower indigenous to the Douro. It was the purely fictional saga of a family of port producers whose quinta was called Ervamoira.
Since 1990 Champagne house Louis Roederer is the majority shareholder in Adriano Ramos Pinto.
The lot will be sent in appropriate custom packaging.
